Tom Sumner

Superintendent

Tom was born and raised in Ohio on a farming family, where a strong work ethic and hands-on problem solving were part of everyday life. He earned a degree in Forestry from Ohio University and went on to become a union-trained carpenter, building a career grounded in skill, precision, and respect for craftsmanship.

Throughout his career, Tom has traveled across 11 states working on a wide range of construction and remodeling projects, including numerous HUD developments. His experience includes building college dormitories at four different universities, completing major projects at three large zoos, and performing historic remodels in three states where accuracy and preservation were critical. He has also completed more than ten projects across various state campgrounds, blending durability with environmental awareness.

Outside of work, Tom lives on a farm in South Carolina, where he adopts horses, Great Danes, and even the occasional cow. He also runs the missions program for his church, leading mountain relief efforts, coordinating large-scale cooking and grilling for groups ranging from 20 to 200 people, and providing small home repairs for individuals and families in need.

Tom brings the same dedication, integrity, and care to his community that he brings to every project he builds.
